project description: The key word for this project was practicality. The kitchen needed to be reworked and updated to include enough storage, appliances needed to be relocated to allow for better use, and the over all style needed to match the rest of the home while meeting modern trends. Focusing back on practicality all materials used needed to be able to clean, durable while also being beautiful. I used natural materials like white oak and more durable materials like quartz and porcelain. Another key factor was family and gatherings, the clients love to host and welcome their growing and extended family into their home and the kitchen is the place where they like to gather. Keeping that in mind the kitchen needed to have a semi-open concept to allow for gatherings to flow in and out of the kitchen to the rest of the home. Additionally the mudroom and powder room were altered to allow for more space upon entry from the garage.
